I have the worst memory ever. My kids say things that make me laugh and I always think I will remember them but they always slip my mind. This time I am acting quick while it's fresh.
Addie: Mom, I have two notes from school for you. {Handing me a neon green paper}This one is about places we can go and stuff I can do during the summer that might cost a little bit. Then this one is if you speak another language. Which I kinda do. Spanish.
Mom: {Knowing my child thinks she is fluent in Spanish, I tired not to laugh.} Okay, get me a pen. {I then filled out the paper which just asked what our primary language is.}
Addie: {Looking over my shoulder} Did you write yes?
Mom: Yes that you speak another language?
Addie: Yeah, for Spanish.
Mom: I took care of it.
And now for your viewing pleasure, Addie says the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish.
A few minutes later she is kneeling at the coffee table doing some math-
Addie: Mom, how do you write ten hundred?
Mom: You don't, it's one thousand. One zero zero zero.
Addie: {In an I-don't-think-so tone} Nu-huh!
Mom: Yes, Addie. I swear. There is no ten hundred. You say one thousand.
Addie: Yes-huh! Then what happened to eleven hundred?
You've got me there!

Sick of being sick!
I love that we are a healthy family. Aside from an occasional cold we are generally lucky enough to avoid the yearly flu or other sicknesses.
That was until April rolled around.
We started off the month with Addie and a nasty case of strep throat. I took her to the Doctor where she got a prescription for Amoxicillin. At the same visit the Doctor wrote out a prescription for Jared who was also coming down with strep. The very next morning I woke up with, you guessed it, strep throat. Thankfully I was able to have a prescription called in for me and we were all back to normal after a few days.
About 4 days after we were back to normal I noticed spots appearing on Addie. I thought they were Chicken Pox {no, I do not vaccinate for that} so I kept her home from school but it turns out it was it was Scarlet Fever.
It was a nasty rash and very itchy but she took lots of oatmeal baths and I practically bathed her in Caladryl lotion. I was so glad when the spot began disappearing. I thought we were over everything.
Then I got thrush from the antibiotics. I don't typically use antibiotics but I hated seeing Addie in such pain, Jared could care less if he takes prescribed medication and I had to get well to take care of my family. Not to mention everyone had me terrified of Rhuematic Fever.
After the thrush was over with Addie came down with a sore throat once again and the day after that I came down with the worse case of strep I have ever had. It was awful. So bad I had Jared take me to Urgent Care. After a few days I was once again back to my normal self.
But not Jared. He made a trip to the Doctor for what he thought was Strep again but it turns out he has allergies. Who knew? That's a first for us and allergies. Then last Saturday he came down with a 24-hour stomach bug. Thankfully it passed quickly. Then last Sunday as we were walking in the house from church Kimber started screaming in pain. She said her stomach was hurting so I figured she had the same bug as Jared. Then the pains got increasingly worse to the point where she would scream and curl into a ball. Sadly I made her suffer through the night and all day Monday. It was horrible of me but sometimes you just don't know how bad it is. I knew she was sincere when she would have a stomach cramp but I was hoping it would pass. Then at about 2 am on Tuesday I decided she had to go to the ER. I got all dressed but miraculously she was able to fall asleep while Jared was holding her. She still had pains but slept between them for a few hours. At about 6 am I decided enough was enough and we headed to the hospital.
Amazingly we were the only ones there so we got right in and got a room, with 4 walls, no curtains! Of course, being the ER they prepare for the worst case scenario so they took blood and gave an IV but Kimber was so brave. The nurses truly ranted and raved about how brave she was. I held her little head and talked to her about what was going on {in a much more motherly way than the nurses. "We just going to leave a straw in your arm." Really, did you want to say it like that? I cleared it up for her and explained it was not a "straw" like she knew. Because that would be huge!} and about things we would normally talk about. She got three pokes and was so brave through each of them.
After 10 long hours, an X-ray and CT Scan it was determined that she did in fact have a stomach bug and fluid had gotten into her abdomen causing the sharp pains. They also worried that she may have had a mass in her intestine but the mother in me knew she just needed to use the bathroom. That night she was back to normal and it was although nothing had ever happened. And I was so thankful.
Now that Lucy is over her little bug she had yesterday and after I get over this sore throat I am determined that this family will ban sickness forever. I am going to count my blessing everyday we are healthy and continue to be thankful that it's just a sore throat, a stomach bug or Scarlet Fever and not something worse.

Lana Banana
To my girls Lana walks on water. No one is sweeter, more fun or cooler than her. When they hear that their cousin {Aunt Jeanie's only child} will be coming up they count down the days and that's all I hear about.
You see to them Lana is awesome because she has a big black truck and two black cars, she has horses, she has a house here and one in Gilbert and they are both so nice and she flies on airplanes for a living. She also brings them treats and buys them swimming suits.
Yesterday she came to tell them bye before heading home and promised them that when she returned in a few weeks that they would do something fun again. We are officially on the countdown once again.

For Sunday dinner we usually eat with the extended Hatch family. Everyone is assigned a portion of the meal and I generally end up with homemade rolls or dessert, my two favorite things to make. Yesterday we did Homemade Oreos. Addie put them together all on her own and even did the dishes when she finished the cookies. It's bittersweet as your kids get older.
