Deals of the Day

I wouldn't consider myself the best bargain shopper, I'll leave that title for my sister in law, Briana.  But, I like a good deal. Here's the deals my girls and I picked up today.
(Sorry for the blurry picture.)

2 boxes of 36 leis (still trying to figure out why I bought them, but 50 cents for each box?  I just had to.)
4 tubes of toothpaste
1 package of newborn diapers
1 Huggies wipes refill pack
2 Loreal eyeliners
1 Ace Comb (they are the best!)
3 things of sunscreen
2 wreaths (just waiting to become a project!)
1 package Hawaiian skewers (I feel a luau coming on)
2 Axe deordorants
2 Dove deodorants
2 Crayola Explosion coloring kits (for the church bag)
1 bug scrubber (it's part of Jared's father's day gift)
1 Pictureka flipper game
3 painting craft projects
2 Velvits (another craft project)
2 packs Avent pacifiers
1 package Always pads (post baby stuff)
1 package handy wipes
2 Crayola Wonder pads(again, for the church bag)
 1 Digorno Deep dish pizza
1 package Kool-aid Fizz
1 package lunch meat
1 package Ritz (nasty looking) crackers (for our Emergency kits.  I would never eat something with that long of a shelf life!)
(The above four things were free.)

You see, a few weeks ago I bought some stuff on the Internet and 4 of the 6 packages arrived today.  2 came last week.  The rest of it are things that we picked up today while out shopping.  There are a few food things that we would normally NEVER buy but they were free and I thought they might help hold Jared over while we are away.  I bought the crafts for my girls so that after I have the baby they can have a few projects to keep them busy.  Addie has already been begging to do them.

If I had to estimate how much I saved I would say close to $200 and I only paid $46 for all of that. I had to buy some of it anyway and I would have probably spent at least that on what I needed, so why not throw in some fun things while we were at it?

Lost and Found

This morning I was looking through some files on my Free Agent and came across this video that I had forgotten about.  I made it after Marlene's funeral for the family but never got around to completing it the way I wanted so I never gave it to anyone.

It's not perfect but I think I'll just leave it be.

Short Lived

The Hatch Family were official pet owners for a total of 4 days.  Maybe he didn't like not having a name.  Maybe he would have preferred to be an in door cat.  Maybe he would have like to be petted once in a while.
What ever the reason, he's gone.  It's was his choice, not ours.

On the countdown

Today marks 36 weeks for me.
In less than three weeks I will pack up and head to the Valley to await the arrival of our newest one.  There is a lot to do before I leave.  I've got to assemble the cradle, get our meals in order so we have something to eat when we get home, pack a hospital bag for me and a to-go bag for Jared, make sure my house is spotless, get enough groceries to last Jared two weeks and much more.

Thank goodness for nesting!

On a side note, I went to the Dr. yesterday for a checkup.  He was being shadowed by a Medical School Student.  When the student walked in the room I just about died!  It was a kid I went to High School with.  He was very professional, but let's be honest, it was awkward to listen to the Dr. review my pregnancy history with him and then have to bare my belly in front of him.  Thankfully after it was determined I needed to be checked for early dilation, he didn't return.  It had already been weird enough.

Family Campout 2010

This weekend we headed out to my Grandparents ranch for our annual Family Campout.  Although it's only a 45 minutes drive for us, I still wanted to camp out with the rest of the family.  To make a long story short, it didn't work out because of trailer problems.  I was feeling really sad until after a hot and dirty day out at the Ranch I stepped into my warm shower. I still wish it could have worked out, but it was still an enjoyable weekend.

Jared spent the weekend on an excavator helping my uncles extend the leach line for the septic.  I wish I would have gotten pictures of them working, but between visiting with family and keeping an eye on my girls, I missed out on a lot of good pictures.

My grandparents have a posterity of over 200 so when we get together it's a huge undertaking.  There is always an abundance of food, people and good times.

My girls had a blast with their cousins.  They played with their immediate cousins and even met a few new ones.  They were in heaven to actually have girls to play with.

They had lots of fun stuff to keep the kids busy as well.  They had a great time trying to break the pinata-

And painting plaster of pairs molds.  It's a tradition that we've had since before I can even remember.
And besides keeping the kids busy, there was lots of fun to be had with the older cousins.

I love my boy cousins.  I call them the Lost Boys.  There is a group of them that are all about the same age and they are always having a good time.
The highlight of the whole weekend was the ride my Dad took me and my girls on in this beast.  A 1947 Chevy Fleetmaster.  To me the lack of beauty adds to its character.
Somehow my Uncle came across this and thought it would be a great Ranch Ride.  I love the sound it makes and how it makes me feel like I've stepped back in time.  Before leaving the Ranch on Saturday night my Dad and his brother drove up to our camp in it.  I had to laugh and tell him that it looked like one of those clown cars where the clowns keep coming out.  I think I counted at least 7 grown men piled up in there.  I wish I could have gotten a picture.

Meet Gilbert/Poppy/Doug/Sparky Socks/Lucky/Choncho

The list goes on.
I'm reluctant to even post this because of my disdain for animals, especially cats, but I'll do it anyway.

This kitten showed up the other night after I had gone to bed.  It stood at the backdoor meowing so Jared through it a piece of meat.  The worst thing you can do.  It stuck around all day Saturday, even though we were gone from morning until late night.  I was reluctant to keep it but once my girls saw it [from a distance!] they decided we should keep it.  My Vet-in-training brother checked it out and said that it's healthy and even gave it a bath.

Our no-name kitten is strictly an outdoor cat and doesn't mind that we don't pet it.  I did break down and buy a box of kitten food but it was a hard $2 to throw down.

Some pet owners we are.

Pedicures

Last week I took my girls to the salon for haircuts.  While we were there Addie saw a little girl getting a pedicure and couldn't take her eyes off of her.  I asked her if she would like to get one and of course the answer was yes.  So yesterday we pulled out the lotion, polish, clippers and all the pedicure stuff we could pull together and gave each other pedicures.
She loved soaking her feet in the warm, soapy water.  I rubbed and lotioned her legs and feet, then trimmed and painted her nails.  Before bed last night she told me how much she loved it and that she wanted to have a pedicure everyday.

I was next.
Addie gives great foot rubs and I was not about to turn her down.  My feet have been horribly swollen the last few days and my Dr. told me to try to take it easy and keep them up.  On Monday night they were so bad I could barely bend them to walk.  This morning I was happy to wake up to a normal foot size.  Maybe a foot rub was just what the Dr. ordered!

It wasn't long before Kimber joined us and wanted to paint my fingernails.  This is what I got.
