Busy Summer Days

This past week has been so nuts! We have had tons of company and tons going on. It's been great! Last weekend Heather and Doug came up to sell their toy hauler so we got to hang out with them for a while. We kept Kennedy while they met the guy and boy, she was a hoot. Without me knowing it, she and Addie got came in the house and got into the cupcakes.

This is so Kennedy! She cracks me up.

Yup, they destroyed every last delicious one of them. Secretly I was glad because I didn't have to look at them and let them tempt me. And what better way to show your cousin you love her then to share your Coke?

Later that night our we kept our cousins' girls while they went to the Temple.

Then last night we drove over to Winslow for a birthday party. On the way we saw this crazy storm. This was the only cloud in the sky.

Heather and Kimber having an intelligent conversation. I can't remember what was being said but Kimber was babbling and Heather was giving Kimber some kind of instruction. So complicated.

But isn't she cute?

After the party we stopped by Jared's Dad's house to say Hi. He was out roping (or ropin' as the true cowboys say. I just can't bring myself to say it.) so the girls got to watch for a little bit. He even took Kimber for her first horseback ride. She loved it! Of course Addie didn't want to ride. She is too much like her mother. I took pictures of them roping and riding but I need to study up with Pioneer Woman a lot more before I share them.

There are actually sheep behind Addie but she wouldn't get close enough to the fence so this is what we get.

Now on to today. One of my callings is the 10-11 year old Achievement Day Leader. My friend Jen just got called to be over the 8-9 year olds and we decided to combine them. Today we did the funnest activity. We wanted to do something about hygiene and personal grooming. Here is what we did:

First of all we wanted to talk to them about keeping thier bodies clean and what it can be like if we don't. We did a little skit where we had Jen come in and since the girls had never met her I introduced her. She was a hoot! Here is what she looked like:

At first we played it off and after a while I acted like she smelled and had bad breath, among other things. The girls were sort of laughing but weren't sure if she was serious or not. We let it go on for a minute and I started questioning her about when the last time she showered was, did she brush her teeth this morning, and yaddy yadda. Then I handed her a mirror and asked her if she looked at herself before leaving this morning. After she said no I handed her a bag with a comb and clean clothes in it. She changed and came back. We were able to talk about what a difference being clean can make. It definitely got our point across!

After that we passed around a bag with the following items in it:

Deodorant, loofah, soap, washcloth, lip gloss, hand sanitizer, shampoo, conditioner, headband, tissues, toothbrush, gum, lotion and a flower for hair and a comb.

Each person picked out and item and we discussed what it is and why and when we use it.

We even picked a few models and showed the girls a few new ways to do their hair.

After that it was time for mani/pedi's! We went outside for this because there was no way they were going to use nail polish on my new flooring. Each girl got to spend a few minutes using the foot spa and then they partnered up to do each other's nails. Although I think Jen and I ended up doing more nails than anyone.

Then we fed them fruit dip with peaches, apples and bananas. They scarfed it!!!

At the end we gave each girl their own bag with all of the personal hygiene items in it. They loved it! And here they are in all their cuteness (minus one who had just left, plus Addie).

Good Friends...Good Times

My good friend Cami and her husband Alex came from California and spent a few days with us. It was so fun! Cami and I were roommates while attending BYU Nauvoo. Our lives have never been the same since. I have never met someone that could make me laugh so hard. Unfortunately since we live so far apart we don't get to see each other very often, so when do we try to make the most of it. Some day I will post about some of the good times we have had. She deserves a tribute!

They got here on Monday afternoon and enjoyed catching up while making cinnamon rolls (that were dangerously good!). That night we drove to Lakeside and had dinner with Ben and Briana at the cabin.

Tuesday we shopped pretty much all day. We hit up a cute little boutique in Show Low called Blossoms as well as some other stores. Alex kept the girls occupied while we shopped. After lunch we took them to Jared's grandparents house where we knew they would have a better time.

Wednesday we drove to Greer. That is where all but one of the pictures were taken. It was a beautiful day and we had a ton of fun.

We got caught in this storm on the way home. It was a doozy! It also caught up to us later that afternoon at home. It was crazy! The rain was coming down so hard that you could hardly see anything outside. We were also without power for a few hours. It was fun for Cami and Alex because they don't get storms like that in Santa Maria. They said they only get thunder and lightning once every FIVE or SIX years! I would have to move!

My girls loved the attention!

They left this morning and we were so sad! The girls instantly got attatched to them. It was great! Cami was so sweet to let Addie do her hair, play with her cool cell phone, take pictures with her camera, play with her and so much more. They are going to be amazing parents! I can not thank them enough for how much they did for my girls while they were here.


Oh yeah!!! I must give credit to Alex who was a good sport and never complained about spending so much time us girls. Oh, and thanks for mowing my lawn. It looks great!


Cami and I are now planning a trip to LA in a few months. Jared doesn't know yet but he will be keeping the girls so I can fly to LA where I will meet Cami. We will spend the weekend shopping and doing girl stuff. I can't wait!
